On the inaugural day of the meet, a number of eminent persons grace the occasion;
with His Excellency, the Governor of Manipur, Shri VK Duggal as the Chief
Guest, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Manipur, Shri Okram Ibobi Singh as the President
and Head of the Club25 International Board, USA, Stephanie Beneditti as the
Guest of Honour, among others.
Variety of cultural programmes were witnessed on the inaugural function
with the folk dances of Manipur and other cultural dance forms from Bhutan,
Indonesia, Myanmar and the likes of enthralling the audience.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri VK Duggal said that we all should be
prepared for any disaster which may occur at any point of time. This kind of meet
will help in preparing and spreading awareness regarding any kind of disaster. Through
this kind of meet, youth can help building the world a better place to live in.
The Global Youth Meets 2014, brings together young delegates from all
over the world to exchange views, share experiences on different issues like
VBD, disaster, environment, health, reflect together and, above all, detect
common preoccupations and to develop realistic action plans to rebuild
communities that meet the needs and aspirations of young people. The event
allows young people to voice their ideas and concerns and make suggestions
directly.
