Hardly one would find a student who does not support a cause in the contemporary times. You go anywhere, any school, college, university et al, you will find one or other flaunting their cause they endorse. Yes, flaunting because it’s become a fashion to support a cause just for show-off purpose except few.
Be it environmental, human rights, poverty, education or any other cause, today students are ever ready to support any kind of cause without actually wanting to support it. Influenced by people like Ana Hazare, today everyone and anyone is activist.
One will often come across conversations like – “What do you support these days?” and pat will come the reply-“I support animal rights as I am a vegetarian”. How immature an answer it is! Well, the above is just to substantiate that students, without much thoughts and love for a cause, are joining any movement just for the sake of fun and flaunt.
For amateurs, before indulging yourself in becoming an activist, make sure you really want to work for the cause from the core of your heart. To NGOs, it would be appreciated to avoid giving membership to anyone and everyone, especially students, just to see the increase in your membership list for those extra incomes from some international organisations.
And for those genuine activists, keep up the good work!
