The latest trend in B-town seems to be overdosing the public by making appearances on every possible medium of entertainment just to promote their upcoming flicks.
This is exactly what is happening right now, every time you switch on the television.
As soon as you surf the channel you find actors sitting as a judge in a singing reality show or on
a news channel giving interviews or even making a guest appearance in telly soap (remember Salman did that to promote Dabangg).
But why blame only Salman, this trend of film promotion was actually started
by Amir Khan ---the man who went a step ahead with his promotion-strategy.
He disguised as a rickshaw puller in the city of Banaras before “Three idiots” became super hit.
All this and what not, these stars are known for cutting the edge above the rest especially when it comes to their own baby (film).
Surely, we don’t mind if our own favorite star is accessible to us, so what if it’s only for a
publicity gimmick? After all, any publicity is good publicity, which works both for the film maker as well for the star in it.
We as audiences are at a receiving end having the final say to either sulk or fall prey to the promotional tactics of buying a ticket to
watch what was being thrown at us every time we switched on the idiot- box. Touché
