"the happy tramp".

by Tejas on Sep 13

There was once a tramp
named him, his mother, the lamb
lived on air, rain and sunlight
had milky clouds for dessert to his delight

along with birds and humming woods he merrily sang
and with wild  zephyr he did danced
a robe of leaves had he to clad
over the grass by the meadows he laid

blissful in love was he
Mary Jane was the name of she
high was he in his lover’s bosom
in ecstasy was he as their love blossomed

at his bliss did society scorn
with envy and spite did they stone
his friends they mourned where he laid slain
and cried was the wailing rain

raised was a stone over the grass by the meadows where he once laid
engraved were the words in heavenly letters that said
“blissful and merry and blessed  was he…… the happy tramp”.
