2nd Xenoh Corporate Football Challenge 2014 concludes



Blackberry beat AFC by 3-0 in the conclusion to the 2nd Xenoh Corporate Football Challenge 2014, which kicked off on 21st February. The final match was played on 30th March, with the final match played between Apunpba Fitness Centre (AFC) and Blackberry (James Khaling & Sons) Team at TBSFA ground Taobungkhok.


The Blackberry team, painted in yellow shirt, took the winning trophy with a cash reward of Rs.1 Lakh presented H Nandakumar, Vice Chancellor, Manipur University. The runner-up AFC, attired in white uniform, took away a cash award of Rs. 50,000 which was handed over Bijoy Koijam, president Manipur Olympic Association (MOA)

The grand finale ceremony initiated off with an exibition match of 30 minutes,  played between All Black United and Aircel. This year's Xenoh Corporate Football Challenge 2014 was organised by Hero's Foundation and hotel Classic as its main sponsor. 42-teams participated with rounds of 110 matches to conclude to the final match. In the semi-final round, AFC beat Aqua Dew and Blackberry defeated Endeavour.


The fast paced final match was igniting. Julian (shirt No.10) of Blackberry punted and made the first goal in 21 minute before the first-half. Piterson (shirt no. 21) kickoff 2-goal after the first-half, one in 51 minutes and the other in 62 minutes during the match. And Blackberry summed up a score of 3-goals. It is relevant to mention that the Blackberry team championed the 1st Xenoh Corporate Football Challenge in the previous year. And in the final match, Sana Ningombam of Blackberry was awarded the 'Man of the Tournament’ title with a trophy with a cash prize of Rs. 5000.
