After seventy-six years of wait for a Grand Slam singles title, Andy Murray ends the wait with his impressing victory over Novak Djokovic to win the US Open 2012 on Monday.
Andy Murray defeated Novak Djokovic in a five set match by 7-6 (12-10), 7-5, 2-6, 3-6, 6-2 to win the Grand Slam. It’s the first ever Grand Slam title of his career.
It was in the year 1936 that Fred Perry became the last British man to win a Grand Slam singles title. The nation that invented modern tennis finally found a champion for the contemporary times after Andy Murray won the US Open on Monday.
Meanwhile, Serena Williams won US Open Women 2012 beating Victoria Azarenka, 6-2, 2-6, 7-5 on Saturday.
